Active
1970s to 2010

Vivian Jackson recorded under the name Yabby You, and his records occupy an unusual position: deeply religious, but not Rastafarian. He held to his own reading, which set him at an angle to almost everyone around him and gave the music a lonely quality.

The rhythms are austere and slow, with a lot of space in them, which made them ideal raw material. King Tubby and later Prince Jammy mixed some of their heaviest work from his sessions.

He was in poor health for much of his life and worked through it. He died in 2010.

Twelve dub records, in order

A route through dub itself rather than through reggae: twelve albums in sequence, from the first tentative experiments to the point where the method left Jamaica altogether.
