Michael Williams was billed as the Voice of Thunder, and for once the marketing was accurate. He did not toast so much as pronounce, in a low growl that sounds like it is coming up through the floor.

The Cry Tuff Dub Encounter records, made with the Arabs, are the ones to find. He also worked extensively in Britain, where his voice turned up on records by people who had grown up on his own.

He was murdered at his home in 1983.
