Niney the Observer
Producer
- Montego Bay, Jamaica
- 1960s onwards
Winston Holness lost a thumb in an accident, which is where the name came from. He learned under Lee Perry and went out on his own with a sound that is darker and more frightening than almost anything else from the period.
Blood and Fire, from 1970, is the record that made his name. The productions that followed are militant and heavy, with a lot of empty space in them, which made them ideal material for the dub versions that followed.
